Planters for your green wall

Lately, the idea of green walls is very fashionable. This sustainable decoration is healthy and great to look at. It has been scientifically proven that foliage can improve air quality.

A green wall will help to vastly improve the quality of air in any environment. It acts as a natural air filter, purifying the polluted air whilst releasing clean oxygen. We love air conditioning. Did you know that installing a green wall acts as a natural air conditioner, balancing humidity levels to keep us comfortable.

Excellent for the home or the office, a green wall can turn any dull and dreary room into an inviting and alluring environment. This can be great for creating a good first impression on your clients when they visit your business. Or, if you want to give your home a nice colourful touch, it will add some green to your own four walls and be a great talking point when you have guests over.

You can design a planter for your green wall using a simple pinching method. Begin a pinch pot by forming a lump of clay into a smooth sphere that fits the size of the hand. While holding the sphere of clay, press the thumb into the centre of the ball, half-way to the bottom. While revolving the ball in one hand, press the walls out evenly with the thumb into the inside and the fingers on the outside. Smooth the surface with a damp sponge.

First decide how large (or small) you want your planter box to be. Your decision should be based on how many plants you want to have in each planter. Also keep in mind how large the plant will grow and give it enough room to do so.

Second, think of the decoration for your planter. Glazing your planter is an easy way to give a simple shaped pot a unique identity. Leaving your pots unglazed will expose the color of the clay that can create more focus on the plant.

Glazed pots are colourful as a container or as a decorative object on their own, are better able to withstand outdoors environment and last longer. Whereas unglazed planters are traditional looking and they become stained with salts, lime, and mosses on the outside.
